Chinese paper-cutting is an art with a 1500-year history. It is the first type of paper cutting design since paper was invented. There are single images and symmetrical designs. Such exquisite works of art are normally created by paper-cutting artists with the use of scissors and/or knives. Today, paper-cuttings are chiefly decorative. They are often used to decorate walls, windows and doors and are also used on presents or are given as gifts themselves. In 2009, Chinese paper-cutting became one of the world's cultural heritages.
